Hey friends, so today I wanted to talk a bit on essential wardrobes. You’ve probably heard this term used and maybe never really understood why it’s such a huge deal to some people. Hopefully this blogpost can help with explaining what an essential wardrobe is, and how it can be really useful for you. I hope by reading this you gain a little more insight, and perhaps think about curating your closet to have more essential pieces. I’ve also put together an essential wardrobe checklist in the form of a pdf for your easy access. Hopefully you find this helpful as you build your essential wardrobe! What is an essential wardrobe?

When I think about what it means to have an essential wardrobe, I think of a wardrobe that has pieces of clothing that could be worn with countless other outfits; a wardrobe with pieces of clothing that can be worn in many different seasons, and my favorite – a wardrobe with pieces of clothing that can easily be repurposed for different occasions. When I spend money on a dress or pair of jeans, I want to feel like I can style them in different ways and wear them more than once to multiple occasions. Thats what an essential wardrobe allows you to do.

Simple reasons why having an essential wardrobe is important

  • For one you get to save your coins. I mean this is obviously a no brainer right?
  • You reduce the stress of always looking for what to wear.
  • You get to curate a closet that is not only functional but something that suits your personal style.

You might be wondering, “where do I start from?”

Something that I consider very key when building your personal essential wardrobe is – YOUR PERSONAL STYLE! I have this in all caps because I cannot emphasize this enough. Your essential wardrobe should consist of pieces of clothing that work for You and only You. You have to do what works for you and wear clothes that make you feel the most confident and the most beautiful in your skin. Personal style should be an extension of yourself and not who other people think you should be or look like. So when you are buying a piece of item or looking through your closet for what to wear, ask yourself  this – does this outfit make me feel beautiful? do i feel confident wearing this? If the answer to those questions are no, then I urge you to pause and go find something that you can feel beautiful and confident in before adding to your closet.

My message here is simply this – when building your essential wardrobe, think about who you are now, who you want to be and how you want to feel when you step outside of your house.

Now that we have gotten all that out of the way, I would like to gift you with an essential wardrobe checklist that I curated just for you. Think of this as a guide to beginning your essential wardrobe journey. I hope you find it useful.

In a future blogpost, I am going to be going more in-depth with different ways to style some of the essential wardrobe pieces you already own. Stay tuned, and thanks for stopping by 🙂
